The Formula Pro USA Championship Presented by Exclusive Racing continued this past weekend at Thunderhill Raceway with rounds three and four of the 12-race championship program. With new winners in both the F3 and F4 championship programs, Yashom Kapoor and Larry Schnur doubled up this weekend to assert themselves as championship hopefuls.
In an epic Formula Pro USA F4 event, it was World Speed Motorsports that dominated the competition by taking the top-two positions in both wheel-to-wheel races. With fourth and third place results in rounds one and two, Kapoor returned to rounds three and four with a vengeance, scoring both day’s victories. Earning the fastest lap in race one to score maximum points, Kapoor won race one, earning 25 points for his effort, while the two bonus points for the fastest race lap went to teammate Ridgeley Welsh. With Kapoor taking the victory on Saturday, Welsh crossed the line second ahead of Kiwi Motorsport’s Carolyn Fitzgerald and Jensen Global Advisors Ana Palestro.
Returning to the track Sunday, Kapoor was once again the dominant combatant and scored the win ahead of Welsh, who earned the fastest race lap. With a carbon copy results sheet from Saturday, the top-two drivers battled lap-after-lap with positions changing before Kapoor asserted himself to be on top. Fitzgerald was third on the road and celebrated on the podium ahead of Palestro in the fourth position. Kapoor now leads the championship standings by five markers over Welsh in second, 20 points ahead of Zach Fourie in the third position.
In the Formula Pro USA F3 class, it was again World Speed Motorsports that took home a pair of victories at the hands of Larry Schnur. With two wins and two fast lap honors, Schnur scored the maximum 54 points on the weekend to put his name at the top of the championship standings. Fellow World Speed Motorsports driver Charles Duncan, who missed the first two races of the season, showed up for races three and four, garnering a pair of second-place results.
Larry Schnur closes the second event weekend of 2025 with a 34-point advantage over James Lawley in second and 44 over Nicolas Stati in the third position.
“With the first two event weekends done and out of the way, we are now headed to one of the most prolific tracks in North America, the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca,” explained BD Morgan. “We have nearly three months until the next event, but we will be pushing hard to get as many drivers out as possible and with the event being at Laguna Seca, we are expecting a pretty decent turnout. Registration is already open, and we hope to see you there.”
Taking place in later June, over the June 27-29 weekend, Formula Pro USA Presented by Exclusive Racing will return to the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the first time this season.
