Dmitrii Pistoliako and Nicole Havrda Win Formula Pro USA Western Championships Opener

It was a dominating weekend for a pair of drivers at the Formula Pro USA Western Championship Presented by Exclusive Racing opening round as Dmitrii Pistoliako and Nicole Havrda both earned a pair of victories in their respective classes. Kicking off their 2023 campaigns with a pair of victories each, Pistoliako and Havrda have quickly asserted themselves as the championship favorites with the next double race weekend just around the corner.

On the F4 side of the Formula Pro USA Western Championship, Dmitrii Pistoliako scored the round one victory for Doran Motorsports Group. Returning to the track Sunday and proving that Saturday was no fluke, Pistoliako doubled up on weekend wins and scored the race’s fastest lap and accompanying two bonus points. James Lawley, competing out of the Atlantic Racing Team stable, crossed the line second on Saturday but proved his speed with the fastest race lap while Alexander Cornfield and World Motorsports were third. With Pistoliako taking the victory on Sunday, Lawley and Cornfield swapped positions behind him with Cornfield climbing to the second step of the podium ahead of Lawley in third.

2022 F3 Champion Jay Horak proved to be the quickest driver over the weekend by scoring both fast lap honors on Saturday and Sunday but was only able to position himself on the second step of the podium both days. Trailing Nicole Havrda throughout the weekend, Horak leaves Thunderhill Raceway Park ten points in arrears of the championship leader courtesy of four bonus points for his fastest race laps.

“It was a good weekend, but we are ready for the next one,” expressed BD Morgan. “It is great to see new names on the top of the result sheets, and I believe we will see more winners as we continue through the 2023 season. Our next event is just around the corner, and we hope to see you there.”

The next rounds of the Formula Pro USA Western Championship Presented by Exclusive Racing are in less than two weeks’ time as teams and competitors will descend on Buttonwillow Raceway Park over the April 28-30 weekend.
