Dmitrii Pistoliako and Nicole Havrda Double Up at Formula Pro USA Western Championship in Buttonwillow
May 4, 2023 | News
It was the second Formula Pro USA Presented by Exclusive Racing event weekend in the past three weeks, but the winners remained the same. With the first two wheel-to-wheel races taking place at Thunderhill Motorsports Park, rounds three and four this past weekend were completed at Buttonwillow Raceway. Despite taking place at two different California locations, the winners from event one doubled up in event two in both the F4 and F3 programs.
“A huge congrats to Nicole Havrda and Dmitrii Pistoliako who swept the weekend and expanded their points lead,” expressed BD Morgan. “Both drivers were dominant at Buttonwillow and have set themselves up for a very successful season.”
On the F3 side of the program, it was all Havrda in the Valley Kitchens machine. Untouchable all weekend, Havrda earned a pair of race wins, two fast lap awards and a track record to earn maximum points on the weekend. Leaving Buttonwillow with a 30-point advantage in the championship, Havrda has an entire race in hand less than halfway through the season. The World Speed Motorsports driver duo of Jay Horak and Larry Schnur both earned a pair of podiums with Horak finishing third on Saturday and second on Sunday while Schnur was second on Saturday and third in Sunday’s wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend.
In the F4 ranks, it was Dmitrii Pistoliako and Doran Motorsports Group who followed in the footsteps, or tire tracks, of Nicole Havrda in F3. Scoring the fastest lap in both weekend races, Pistoliako earned two race wins and leaves Buttonwillow with a commanding points lead. World Motorsports’ Alexander Cornfield was the best of the rest throughout the weekend climbing to the second step of the podium on two occasions, while James Lawley and the Atlantic Racing Team scored a pair of third-place finishes.
Morgan added, “We have a month until our next event which will mark the midway point to our 2023 season as we return to Thunderhill. Later in June we will make the trek south to the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. There is still plenty of racing to go.”
