The Formula Pro USA Western Championships Presented by Exclusive Racing completed rounds seven and eight this past weekend at the famed WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. With the second half of the season underway, the championship battles have begun to take shape after another tremendous weekend of racing in Monterey, California.

With two classes in competition, Landon Matriano Lim was the dominant driver in the F3 class, taking two race wins, while Valentino Garbarino doubled up in the F4 ranks.

In the Formula Pro USA F3 class, the top step of the podium stayed the same in both races over the weekend with Matriano Lim the driver to beat. Winning on Saturday enroute to the race’s fastest lap and two bonus points, the Kiwi Motorsport driver repeated his performance on Sunday to stretch his championship point lead to 73 markers. Behind him, World Speed Motorsports (WSM) driver Jay Horak earned a pair of podium results, finishing second Saturday and third Sunday as he and WSM teammate Larry Schnur exchanged the second and third steps on the podium in back-to-back days.

Similar to the F3 class, one driver dominated the weekend in the F4 class, earning a pair of wins and bonus points in both races for the fastest lap. World Speed Motorsports driver Valentino Garbarino opened his championship point lead to 81 points with four rounds remaining courtesy of his race-winning performances at Laguna Seca. Athan Sterling, making his series debut with Jensen Motorsports Advisors, grabbed the second step on the podium on Saturday, and repeated that performance on Sunday as he beat teammates and World Speed Motorsports competitors Ethan Brobston and Alexander Cornfield in the two races.

“It was a good turnout and some great racing,” explained BD Morgan. “A couple of new faces made their series debut and mixed it up near the front of the field. It was a great Fourth of July weekend both on and off the track, and we look forward to our next event at Sonoma Raceway.”

Next up for the Formula Pro USA Western Championships Presented by Exclusive Racing will be a trip to Sonoma Raceway over the August 30 to September 1 weekend. Registration is now open on FormulaProUSA.com or by clicking HERE.
