Exciting Finishes in Rounds 3 & 4 of the Formula Pro USA Western Championship
Apr 23, 2024 | News
This past weekend the Formula Pro USA Western Championship Presented by Exclusive Racing completed Rounds 3 & 4 of their 2024 season at Thunderhill Raceway Park. Brad Majman (Kiwi Motorsport) and Valentino Garbarino (World Speed Motorsports) picked up wins in F4 while Jett Bowling (Kiwi Motorsport) and Landon Matriano Lim (Kiwi Motorsport) were victorious in F3 to bring four different drivers to the top step of the podium.
The Formula Pro USA F4 Championship is dead even at the top of the points chart with Majman and Garbarino tied. Both left the first weekend of the series with a win and a second-place result and both earned fast lap honors in one of the races to remain dead even after four rounds. Now after four wheel-to-wheel races, they remain lock and step with Majman taking the win on Saturday and Garbarino on Sunday. When they were not ahead of the field, they both finished second and once again split the bonus points for the fastest race lap to leave the event weekend deadlocked at 90 points apiece. With Majman winning on Saturday and Garbarino in second, Alexander Cornfield completed the podium in third. Garbarino got the best of Majman on Sunday to take the win as the duo finished one-two while Cornfield again rounded out the podium in third.
“It’s great to see an epic battle for the points lead so early in the season,” explained BD Morgan. “To have a pair of drivers matching one another on the results table provides a lot of excitement in the overall push for the championship.”
In the Formula Pro USA Western Championship F3 class, it was Landon Matriano Lim who picked up his third win in three races on Saturday scoring 25 points toward his championship total. Jett Bowling joined him on the second step of the podium as he went on to claim the fastest lap of the race with World Speed Motorsports drivers Jay Horak and Larry Schnur finishing third and fourth. On Sunday, Bowling turned his pace from the day prior into a win, his first of the season as Matriano Lim was beaten for the first time this year to finish second. Horak and Schnur again picked up the pieces behind the Kiwi Motorsport duo to finish third and fourth.
Morgan continued, “Landon’s perfect season came to an end on Sunday, but he managed to expand his championship point lead to 34 markers over Jay Horak in second. We look forward to resuming both championship battles in June at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.”
